Filmmosaic

Finally, we're getting somewhere with our project Filmmosaic.
After numerous technical errors, I managed to get some images out of old super8 material.

Looking forward to showing the result, which is a collaboration with sound artist Arvid van der Rijt.

LÖYLY

Together with the Malakta family, I embarked on a new adventure today for the annual competition straight8.

Goal of straight8 is to make a 3 minute film on a single cartridge of super8 cine film without editing or post-production. The first time you'll see your film (if it's great) will be at cannes film festival or one of the other awesome premieres around the world.

For our straight8 entry this year, we took up the challenge to set up a working sauna outside in the woods. Jukka and Arvid got to work up some sweat, while I tried to capture their buttocks on film.

Cold, wet, tired, and hungry, and in possession of a hidden masterpiece called LÖYLY !

Ö

For the exhibition Ö, we have been working on an installation, called 'Vad hände den dagen då gröten slutade smaka?' (What happened the day the porridge didn't taste good anymore?)

The installation consists of 9 zoetropes, that show sequences taken from a short film about everyday routines.

Vernissage, 14-02-2010 12:00-16:00 at Elverket, Ekenäs, FI

Short Film Factory

Short Film Factory is a fact.
Yesterday the Malakta family made their first short film together.
Shortsi challenges filmmakers, artists, theatermakers and musicians to make a film together. Planning, shooting and editing is all done in one single day.

Workshop

At Malakta, I hosted the first of a series of animation workshops.
The students of the Bildkonstskola in Malax, worked the whole morning on the short animations, that show themselves as superheroes.

Here an animation from Bildkonstskolan named Dagdröm, dealing with the theme 'Who are you?'

PAE

For the 2nd PAE in Rotterdam, NL, I made a work called the journey.

Thank you Jukka Rajala-Granstubb for the camera work.
Thank you Thua, Kati, Annika and Jeanette for their performance.

Home Movie Day 2009

Saturday 17.10.2009
13:00-17:00h

Malakta and me will be organising the first ever Home Movie Day in Finland!
The event will be co-hosted by FILMCENTRUM BOTNIA - ELOKUVAKESKUS BOTNIA.

Home Movie Day celebrates amateurfilmmakers and small gauge film. During the day, we will watch old films together. Visitors can bring with them their own films on 8mm, super8, super8 sound or 16mm. The films will be cleaned, repaired and screened. There will be information on how to take care of your old films. And there is the possibility of having them scanned and put on a DVD during our marathonscanning.

Together with HMD there will also be an exhibition of vintage smallgauge filmprojectors and camera’s.
Furthermore there will be a screening of educational films on 16mm.

Let's be nostalgic together!
